The Zapper unit is a one foot switch adaption of the EQD Zap Machine- a hybrid germanium unit that bridges the gap between fuzz and drive.
This circuit is essentially a souped up, much more versatile tonebender MK2 hybrid silicon germanium fuzz.
The core tone is fueled by a germanium transistor that gives that warmer, smoother sound that has caused germanium to become world renown.
This circuit is very versatile- with the gain and bite all the way up, you are in full sonic assault fuzz territory. The bass and treble controls allow you dime in more chime, or tune your sound to a more smooth, velvet like fuzz sound for that creamy guitar tone.
Dial the gain and bite back, and you will get a germanium style overdrive. It can get very bitey and chimey, or thicker for some meaty rock and roll sounds.
The bite control functions almost as a secondary gain- for more, or less. This knob also will change the character of the drive, as it has a texture of its own.
This circuit is a great germanium tone enhancer that works however you want it.
The amount of gain and distortion on tap with this pedal makes it a great addition to any guitarist pedalboard! Sounding great with my Strat as well my Les Paul , adding bite and sustain, along with enough gain to cut through any mix! If you’re looking for a pedal with OD/distortion and Fuzz capabilities, this is as good as it gets!
