PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE A FIRST TIME CUSTOMER
Welcome to Twilight Electronics, a place where guitars are transformed into magic. What happens in these enclosures, is a window into realms and worlds unknown to mankind until now.
If you decide to purchase, please note that I will normally ship in 1-3 days, however there may be rare exceptions where it can take up to a week because I am sometimes traveling and away. I will do my best to communicate when you should expect it to be shipped.
All sales are final.
I am Mr. Twilight and I dedicate my existence to the advancement of sound and music. These are all handmade by me in Echo Park, Los Angeles California. I am a 22 year old studying the art of audio circuitry and making quality tools for musicians. This is my main work at the moment, as I believe I can make a change in the guitar world and create new things as I study and learn more and more.
I started making pedals at the very beginning of 2022, and started because I was in a band at the time playing local DIY shows where I was using my higher end gear. One show, some bad things went down and I realized using higher end gear for small shows just was not worth it.
This was a huge perspective shift for me, and one realization I had was that bringing my high end gear for local, small, unregulated shows just was just not worth it. So I started looking at beater equipment that did its job well but if damaged or stolen, would not worry me in any way.
Pedals were a huge part of my sound at the time and I was into unique sounds that you could not achieve from standard base line pedals, so I started researching how to make my own, and fell into a rabbit hole, and one day I had the sudden spark that I should be selling my creations to others, and thus, Twilight Electronics was born.
Why Twilight Electronics? I have always had these visions in my head of different realities and places, and music would take me to those places. Pedals to me, felt like these portals that would transport my physical self to a new reality with the click of a button, so to me, these electronics are all doors into spaces, corners, and undiscovered depths of the twilight zone.
I have a strong passion for music, and that’s manifested in electronics. I love repairing, modding, creating, and innovating audio circuits. This is really a dream come true for me to do this work. I have worked extremely hard, made tons of errors, and learned many lessons, in order to do this work.
I also LOVE creating custom things for musicians with specific desires and needs.
Do not hesitate to reach out to inquire about custom stompboxes.
I am one person doing the graphic design, circuit board design, PCB preparation/assembly, wiring, enclosure drilling, painting, logistics, inventory, customer service, social media, etc, and a whole lot more, so please have patience. I am doing my best to attend to you (:
If you’re a bassist, and want a demo, let me know and I can make one for you. I am a bassist as well as guitarist, and use all my pedals on bass. They all work equally well on bass as they do on guitar.
DM me before buying if you play bass and I can tell you if it’s possible to build a bass optimized version of a circuit is possible, or it is completely unnecessary.
PRICING
I price based on a few factors; cost of parts (some pedals utilize hard to source parts or expensive parts), the quality of the finish (I examine the paint and coating and will take the finish and overall look of the pedal into the price), and lastly, cost of labor (some pedals have a high part count and are particularly labor intensive)
When you buy a pedal, you are supporting a single person, not a large, faceless, profit (occasionally exploitation) driven business. I live modestly and not above my means, and make a strong attempt to help others whenever possible. I strongly believe, that what comes around goes around, and I would also like to make Earth a better place than I found it.
QUALITY CONTROL
I have to do all my painting and coating outdoors so naturally, the finishes will not be factory perfect.
Please expect this. Most paint jobs come out very good as I have refined my technique over time, I do my absolute best.
Every color applies differently as well- there are certain colors that do not play nice, and no matter what I do- they always have some sort of consistent blemish. I do my best to avoid these colors, but sometimes the color is so beautiful it is worth the blemish.
Powder coating is a seriously fine art, as I learn more it will get better. At this moment I am working with the bare minimum equipment. (standard powered coating equipment is around 3-5k)
I do take the factor of the quality of the finish into the price, and do my best to document all enclosures in the photos.
I offer significant discounts if any of my pedals have more than reasonable cosmetic blemishes.
USER INFORMATION
My pedals are not wired for use with internal batteries, only by an external DC power supply. If requested, I can possibly make custom pedals that fit batteries but they may be one size up of a box to accommodate for a battery.
All pedals are center negative 9v unless stated. Never use anything over 9v unless explicitly stated as you can blow very important semiconductors.
Very select pedals I offer will be able to run at 18v and will be specified in the description if that is the case. Never assume a pedal can safely run 18v.
ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK THE VOLTAGE OUTPUT OF YOUR POWER SUPPLY BEFORE PLUGGING IN A PEDAL FOR THE FIRST TIME
Many power supplies have 9v-18v switches that can easily get knocked into 18v by mistake.
I’ll never forget when I plugged 2 circuits into 18v for testing on accident, and to my horror, the $20 chips in them died.
NOISE CONCERNS-
I design the PCBs and choose components to minimize noise, but I also make some bat shit crazy pedals, that may be noisier than usual just because they’re over the top at times. Not always, but sometimes.
Personally, I really hate unnecessary noise. I always reduce noise as much as possible.
If you find a pedal is noisier than expected, I recommend trying a few different methods to minimize noise.
Daisy chaining power supplies can introduce a lot of extra noise, especially if you have digital pedals in your chain.
Don’t daisy chain if you want to prevent noise.
Certain guitars are naturally more prone to picking up and amplifying noise than others. I had a Les Paul with hum buckers that made pedals noisy, and switching to my Strat with hum buckers made them much more silent. I tested the les Paul to make sure it was grounded and it indeed was. Neither guitar was internally shielded.
Some houses and apartments do not have ideal paths to ground and are heavily surrounded by RF frequencies which can also introduce extra noise
Last note, a lot of cheap wall DC power supplies from Amazon, operate in an audible frequency, so when a pedal is engaged, there is a constant whine.
I know not everyone is able to afford a proper power supply, but it really makes a difference with noise performance. If you’re going to get a more economic friendly power supply, make sure to get one that is specifically for instrument/pedal purposes, as they are usually designed to operate at non audible frequencies. Generic DC adapters are not.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
First off, I love my customers. You guys mean the world to me, I will always be around to answer any questions you may have or help you out as much as I can. I love feedback, negative, positive, I’m open to hearing it.
The thing about buying from me, a smaller company, is I will take care of you. With the larger corporations, getting pedals serviced or fixed can be a nightmare. You can contact me via Reverb or Instagram and I will get back to you quick, on a personal level, and will ALWAYS help you to the best of my abilities.
Communication is key! I ask my customers a lot of questions so I am crystal clear on any requests.
I also love hooking up repeat customers with good deals.
I ALWAYS do a final test playing the pedal, inspecting, and tightening all nuts and bolts before shipping a pedal out to ensure everything is fully working and prepared for long term use.
If one ever stops working, feel free to message me and I will assist you to the best of my abilities. I will take care of you, do not hesitate to reach out.
If a pedal appears to be modded or abused in an overly destructive manner, I will fix it but expect a small fee.
I have developed better construction methods to ensure maximum durability and serviceability over the years. I can proudly say I am confident in my building skills and construction.
If you read the entire thing, thank you and have an amazing week. If you decide to pull the trigger on one of these devices, I always ask that the uses my creations with all of their heart and mind. I want to help musicians create something meaningful in this world.
I chose to dedicate my life to music, to help pursue the advancement and evolution, of the sonic vibrations that make this world go round.
I know I’m not alone when I say music has an impact that cannot be described in words.
