The Twilight MK2 is a tone bender that reaches into a new world of vintage rock and roll fuzz like you have never heard.

I have been studying tonebenders for years. I have spent entire days experimenting, landing on a myriad of discoveries, colors, and variations of the same circuit.

I feel like I have finally uncovered the secrets of the tonebender after all these years. The real knowledge is knowing that the tonebender is a ballpark of sounds.

What makes the tonebenders so special?

Each one comes out different- and each one attests to my dedication to finding the gems in the circuit. Because a tonebender can be built by anyone, but a truly good one takes a skilled finder. These circuits are like mythical creatures- only the finest hunters may come away with treasure.

Not only is the circuit extremely variable in sound and feel- it spiritually is very important. Some of the most powerful musicians have put their energy into this circuit, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and supposedly verified according to the internet, Eric Clapton.

VARIANTS-

GE TMK2 (Nemo)

This version is the mk2 to rule them all. Made with amplifier grade components, this MK2 will make others beg for mercy. With a pre jfet gain stage, the input is buffered to play nice in the chain, and add a larger range of texture and gain.

5 Knobs to rule them all.

top row, left to right

Volume- self explanatory. This bad boy can get LOUD

Gain- I have modified the circuit from stock to have a larger range of low gain to high gain sounds.

bottom row, left to right

T2 Bias- controls the texture, nature, gain, and feel of the 2nd transistor.

T3 Bias-controls the texture, nature, gain, and feel of the 3rd transistor. This one works as a secondary gain/volume control.

Pre Jfet gain- sets the gain of the jfet preamp/buffer stage. Also wildy changes the texture, dynamic, and gain of the fuzz itself.

GE TMK2 Hybrid (Purple Glare)

This version is technically the V2. This purple glare build features premium selection componentry, and one germanium transistor, into 2 silicon transistors. this one features an external bias as well for the 3rd transistor (lower center knob) that functions as a secondary gain/volume/texture knob simultaneous to the standard gain and volume knobs. The gain knob has also been configured for a more linear sweep compared to stock, and has a better cleanup range at lower settings.

the 2 toggles-

right toggle- changes the input cap which changes what frequencies are allowed into the circuit. Middle is brighter, tighter gain with less low end, left is stock with more fuzz and fullness, right has the most bass and an almost swelling like effect with heavy pick attack.

left toggle- input high cut. subtle at high gain, but at cleaner/lower gain settings it is a noticable variable high cut, middle position is no hi cut.

Has premium vintage style knobs.

GE TMK2 (lava)

This version is technically the V2. This lava build features premium selection componentry, and all germanium transistorization. Biased to perfection internally- this one features an external bias as well (lower center knob) that functions as a secondary gain/volume/texture knob simultaneous to the standard gain and volume knobs. The gain knob has also been configured for a more linear sweep compared to stock, and has a better cleanup range at lower settings.

the 3 toggles-

right toggle- changes the input cap which changes what frequencies are allowed into the circuit. This can feel/sound subtle at first, but it truly is not. Middle is brighter, tighter gain with less low end, left is stock with more fuzz and fullness, right has the most bass and an almost swelling like effect with heavy pick attack.

middle toggle- removes or adds the first transistor gain stage. Right is 2 transistor, left is 3 transistor Note that when the right toggle (input cap) is set to the middle- the right mode (2 transistor) becomes very, very gated. The input cap toggle (right toggle) must be set left or right to work proper.

left toggle- input high cut. very subtle at high gain, but at cleaner/lower gain settings it is a noticable variable high cut, middle position is no hi cut.

Hybrid (grey/silver hammer)

First two stages are germanium, the last transistor is silicon for extra bite, treble, gain, and volume. this version is tuned for heavy forward treble and mid treble bite!

has a switch to remove the 1st gain stage for a smoother, less gritty 2 transistor drive.

GE MK2 (blue hammer)

a very special, extremely fine tuned MK2. All germanium, with a bias, and a switch to remove the first gain stage.

Tuned to squeeze every drop of germanium fuzz out of this box.

When I say tuned, I mean literally, specific resistances were chosen to match the germanium set in this box to ensure they perform at their highest potential.

Twilight MK2 (wedge)

This one has an added bias knob in the center to get a wide range of fuzz textures from loud, germanium overdrive, to smooth and crunchy fuzz, all the way to broken and gated sputtery madness.

This one also has an LED indicator mod, and a battery snap & holder to allow for internal battery use. It also has an external DC jack added in case you want to use a power supply- you can have the battery inside and when a external dc jack is inserted, it disconnects the battery so it does not drain. Be sure to unplug the jacks when using a battery as leaving it connected will drain the battery when not in use.
