Tommy Gun MK3

massThe tommy gun is a twilight tuned overdrive that is now on its 3rd iteration.

At the core, the circuit is centered around the Timmy V3 boutique overdrive.

But the twilight does something to this circuit that speaks volumes over the original.

Time for a story.

When I first got to LA, I started going out and meeting people in the local music scenes.

Like destiny, I met what I consider a close friend.

He is one of the best guitarists I have come across here.

His pedalboard got stolen out of his car for the 2nd time. He said a timmy had got stolen... guess what twilight had in stock at the time. I helped a brother out and gave him the one I had on the house.

Anyways, he has become obsessed with it. He took it to studios and recorded, and other people started to hear it and see it and also gain interest. Before I knew it, this pedal became a sort of niche cult following sound.

This overdrive is unique because it has a massive low end and low mid presence- it is NOT as thin and shriveled as a lot of overdrives tend to be. It feels like there is incredible sustain, warmth, and mild saturation in the low to low mid area that sits heavy in the back, while having a sort of clean forefront sparkly, brighter tone that makes your clean signal still pop at the front of the mix.

It is a very full sounding overdrive.

VARIANT NOTES

modded version-

I added a toggleable JFET preamp stage to send this thing into infinite sustain. This jfet stage adds extra warmth and massiveness to the sound, while also giving far more sustain and gain. The textures are just phenomenal.

The middle knob is also an addition- its a somewhat active bass/more control. This works separate from the stock bass and gain knobs and does its own thing, it provides more volume in the low section and makes it fuller, but not in a clipped way. It has quite high headroom and can really push the headroom higher.
