Probably never to be made again.
discounted because the tone and clip toggles are flipped- the tone toggle is on bottom, the clip toggle is the top one.
This was a custom commissioned pedal that I made a singular spare of.
It is a MXR 78 bad ass distortion (client's favorite drive pedal) but with the ability to toggle to a metalzone tone control, with an independently usable high headroom clean boost.
what type of effect is this?
overdrive/distortion
the distortion side can be used as a cleaner, top end boost at lower gain settings, to add mild grit and bite, or full blown high gain saturation. Quite a good gain range from this circuit.
clean boost meant to be used as a lead boost, or to thicken up the distortion side. Very loud, also used to create an instant volume jump.
how does it sound and feel?
The distortion side is a strange one. It feels like an overdrive in the hands. But it has minor subtleties of fuzz at higher gain. Still retains a distortion character, but does not feel as strictly linear and consistently tight like a typical op amp distortion.
With the metalzone tonestack engaged, it achieves a more "metal" like tone. In the stock tone control, it feels and sounds more natural.
The clean boost side can get into warmer territory when cranked, adding a touch of saturation. It gets quite loud before it does that though. Very clean at the earlier gain ranges.
