A A fresh take on two classic dirt boxes. A bit of a frankenstein circuit here.
A mashup of the muff and rat- this pedal has the gain section of a rat with the tone control of a big muff.
About the sound/feel/feautures
This deluxe version is built with premium, high grade through hole components, a mode switch, and 3 way hard clipping toggle.
the mode switch
drone mode stock rat distortion. Crunchy and articulate, with lots of gain happening in the low end.
doom mode adds a big muff gain stage to the rat section for an actual blend of rat and muff gain structure. mad, high gain. infinite sustain, endless feedback. thicker and fuzzier than the drone mode.
3 way clip toggle
compress mode this mode is smoother, creamier, and pleasant on the ears. Slightly lower output, more compressed than the other modes.
stock/grit mode the classic rat sound with the sort of abrasive crunchy edge we all know of standard silicon diode clipping.
open mode best for blown out, loud, aggressive sounds. Pure op amp clipping, massive transients.
This is one of those circuits that does the "everything from boost to fuzz" thing really well. It has a very wide range of gain.
I honestly just love using every circuit high gain. But I enjoy the lower gain sounds this pedal has to offer.
I use higher performing op amps, instead of ones similar to the LM308. I prefer the tighter sound this gives the circuit, compared to the sluggish, high end fizzy sound that the LM308 substitutes can have.
What kind of player would like this pedal?
definitely if you enjoy the rat, you will like this pedal. It is far more similar to a rat than a big muff in its nature.
And who would enjoy the rat? Generally, anyone looking to put some meat on their tone.
COLORS-
the raw aluminum finish option is built fresh to order, and generally features standard components.
The circuit will be built in a raw aluminum case with no paint, but will get lightly sand polished.
knobs will be dealers choice.
on average, 5-10 day build time.

Do you love a rat? Sure, you do!
Do you love a muff? Sure, you do!
Why not put them together?!
Honestly, I love the idea to put these together. Always love a nice toggle switch. Especially enjoy the clean boost mode but all have their applications. Doom, well, delivers exactly as described. Couldn’t be happier with this creation.
