According to various online sources, the harmonic percolator that Albini used on various projects was traced with different values than other examined units.
It absolutely has a unique sound- It sounds MUCH more like a heavy treble booster. It actually does not really get into fuzz territory, but it gets into very meaty, vintage drive.
Think of early sabbath, cranked Marshall/Laney with a treble booster. This thing actually does that meaty doom rock crunch. I felt like I was in industrial Birmingham cranking a full stack in an abandoned factory when I first plugged this in!
All in a gorgeous whitish/grey silver hammertone with an iridescent red glare.

I have gone down the harmonic perculator wormhole many times in my 25+ years of playing and recording and there is something so special and so unique about the P2P that it gave me whiplash when I first heard it.
