Orange Sunshine (ALD-52)

There is a certain psychedelic alice in wonderland trip sounding circuit that involves rainbows. It is a wonderful pedal (one of the most fun and wacky) made by some lovely folks in Akron, Ohio.

My one drawback, is I always felt it could be smaller. So, here we are. This is basically a minified version of that lovely machine.

What is this circuit?

inherently, it is sort of a pitch shifting harmonizer.
It utilizes a digital chip to produce two layers of a single pitch, that harmonize on top of your base signal. It is polyphonic so there is no worries about tracking issues.

However, the pitch range is limited. It is not supposed to be a true harmonizer, its more of a get lost in the weirdness and make some space sounds with this machine.

The Rainbow Machine is built around a DSP pitch warping engine that’s designed to be slightly imperfect; digital remnants of the cosmic dust we’ve picked up across the stars. This cold digital beast is made to pretend it has feelings. 

How I would describe the sound/feel and general notes

It does feel like a hallucinogen if it was a sound. But it also has some very tame sounds as well.

For example, you can get a pretty thick, mean chorus with this effect by setting the pitch just slightly off center or center. Set the tracking clockswise for an almost slapback chorus effect. Make some odd harmonies. make a delay. make a spiral of terrible thoughts in sound. Make yourself literally enter a portal to the twilght realm.
