I have gone into a really deep dive into shoegaze (call it alt rock, call it dreampop, call it heavy indie rock, call it dreamy fuzz rock or whatever floats your boat but you know what I mean)
I sat down and thought, what circuits are essential in this type of music?
Fuzz, Reverb, and Chorus.
Now I would like to throw reverb into the mix, but for the purpose, to keep it in a smaller format I opted for the chorus instead.
So what do we have here? a chorus, with a chorus to vibrato blend knob. Meaning the vibe knob blends the dry signal out the more you turn it clockwise, resulting in pure vibrato signal.
Of course its got your standard rate and depth as well.
For the fuzz side, I opted for a muff of course. I personally feel like the muff is the best option for shoegaze style music, but that is also my opinion and preference.
This one is the op amp muff- it has a bit more clarity than the standard big muff, and it is a bit more versatile in my opinion. With the ability to bypass the tone control, you can get a completely neutral fuzz tone, and with the tone control you can shunt the highs or the lows.
The Op Amp muff has a saturation somewhat similar to a rat in my perception.
These two circuits come together beautifully in a pedalboard friendly enclosure.
