This circuit was designed by Roger Mayer in 1967 and used by Jimi Hendrix on Axis: Bold as Love, and it was designed to be an improvement over the fuzz face as it is temperature stable unlike germanium fuzzes.
This pedal is much brighter and has a more mid heavy nature to it, while also simultaneously having a very clear bass presence. It is nothing like the fuzz face.
If you are a fuzz collector, this is something you absolutely need to have.
Made with quality, premium components you can be sure that you will have the best fuzz tone imaginable.
Hendrix is one of the biggest reasons I started pursuing music as a career. These pedals are all treated with the special stardust Hendrix came from and are my tribute and homage to him.
VARIANTS
Low gain- utilizes lower gain transistors that result in a much smoother, less compressed fuzz at max settings, with a bit of a more natural sound. both variants have good cleanup, but low gain version is a touch cleaner at high fuzz settings.
High gain- utilizes higher gain transistors that push the circuit into that really nice bloom/compression/flowering decay controlled by pick attack that many people crave in a fuzz.
COLORS-
the raw aluminum finish option is built fresh to order, and generally features standard components.
The circuit will be built in a raw aluminum case with no paint, but will get lightly sand polished.
knobs will be dealers choice.
on average, 5-10 day build time.
