It gets that SUNN growl and loudness, as this pedal has loads of volume available. It is very unrefined in its nature and feel, yet seems to do something no other fuzz quite can. It feels like something so imperfect just manages to always find itself in contexts where it becomes perfect.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is like a velvet trumpet when used with passionate energy, or a smooth groove machine when used with soul feel and positive vibes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOne thing this circuit does amazing and is very well known for- its crystal cleans when rolling back the guitar volume. It actually becomes an amazing chimey wonder when the guitar volume is dialed back to relieve the fuzz texture. The guitars volume knob becomes the ultimate clean to slight overdrive to full on fuzz control- better than the fuzz knob on the pedal itself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ewhat kind of player would like this stompbox?\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003efirst off, this circuit is definitely better with single coils but with the bias knob it works far better than many other fuzz faces would with humbuckers.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDefinitely this is one that can be used across so many ranges of music. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBlues- of course. this is like the ultimate blues fuzz, such a rich tone that will have people feeling the blues.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRock- can get very aggressive and crunchy when desired.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFunk- super smooth and again can get spanky when the guitar volume is rolled back.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDoom\/Stoner can you believe it? The very smooth nature makes for rounded and thick lows. Countless one knob fuzz pedals are actually based off the fuzz face.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShoegaze- because of how smooth the texture is, it just flows like butter when paired with the jazzmaster tremolo.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePoint being, this is a very all arounder style fuzz. It is not uniquely textured in a way that makes it fit only in certain contexts. Honestly, this is THE iconic fuzz. You would never guess. Warm and smooth, not super bright and sharp like standard op amp overdrives. more natural feeling and sounding.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ewith the \u003cstrong\u003ebias knob\u003c\/strong\u003e- you can get normal, fuzz textures at full CW. As you dial it back, the transistor starts to open up- until is starts to become gated and crackly, with more CCW settings pushing the transistor into self oscillation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ethe\u003cstrong\u003e added tone control \u003c\/strong\u003e(bypassable or engageable via the toggle switch) allows you to high pass (CW) or low pass (CCW) the fuzz signal. This allows for greater fine tuning than the original allows for.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI also incorporate relay based true bypass, that allows for soft touch switches. It gets quite loud before it does that though.
